Finished: Tranquility on the Lake

Close-up of boat
(yes, the boat has texture - your eyes are not deceiving you.
I used Spectrum 411-15 cord with the rough texture out. It was
perfect to get the board/plank effect).

If you have ever had the honor to hear one of Pastor Lawley's sermons, you know there is always a fish story. One of his favorite things is going out onto the lake. This is a "thank you & best wishes" from the congregation as he moves onto a new mission in the Kansas City area.
-
About this piece...
I chose the sunrise, because he is always awake an hour before the Roosters.
-
The Green hills represent the beautiful Ozarks;
-
The Lake is the Lake of the Ozarks, of course;
And the fisherman pulling in the "fish that didn't get away" and
may you always have a fish on the end of your line.
-
I selected a glass with a wood grain texture, and be assured that on the back of the boat, is it's name "The Old
Fisherman" as it was christened, just like his sign in his front yard that greets every visitor.
-
Because the number "7" is a very good number in the Bible, there are seven red and seven yellow flowers. The three red flowers show the three black centers, representing the Trinity.
-
The flowers can be "poppies" (because I'm sure he will be called that when Grand kids come his way) although " P-I-onies" would have worked also!
(His grandmother always called them "P-I-onies" (long I)
most of us in the midwest call them "P-E-onies")
-
Finally, for some reason whenever I have gone out to find some morel mushrooms, I'm never able to find any, but when Jim goes out, not only does he find them, he brings coolers stuffed full to share with all his family and friends.
Well, the same is true with this - Jim, you will have to go out and find some mushrooms and attach them onto the bottom corner of this piece - I've reserved the space for them. Or if you choose, I will add an etched phrase onto it for you. Enjoy and the best of luck to
you and your family.
